So I found out that Elfquest is coming out with a new installment this month. In fact I believe it's out on Tuesday and that the creators will be at the San Diego Comic Book convention next weekend to promote it. Course I'm thinking, San Diego that's a good day trip and maybe I can get my book signed.
But then, then I found out that Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jason Behr will be there to promote their new movie. And then I REALLY wanted to go. I also just looked at the schedule and found out that Eliza Dushku will be there. And that they would be talking about the new Batman Movie and showing some clips, and lots of other TV/Movie related things that I would love to invest my time in. And then I realized that I can only go Sunday, my day off. And all these people and all the good events will be happening Friday and Saturday. And that made me sad, and dubious about driving all the way to San Diego for a book I can get on Amazon.
And then as I purused through the Sunday schedule of borniness I spotted a bright spot. Joss Wheadon:
1:00-2:00 Joss Whedon: SerenityJoss Whedon, creator of Buffy, Angel and Firefly, will be on hand with surprise guests from the cast of Serenity. Get your first glimpse of Joss' eagerly awaited feature film adventure set in the Firefly universe. Currently filming, Serenity will be released by Universal next summer. Room 20
Not that I was a big Firefly fan. I liked it but I wasn't as excited as some other people I know about it. But any opportunity to see Joss Wheadon and listen to him talk sounds like a fine time to me.
I'm still debating whether or not to go. It's a bit of a drive for a signature and a Joss Wheaton sighting and all the lame other lectures. (All the cool ones are Saturday) And yet.....I think I might be going.
Either way all of this makes me a very big nerd. A very big nerd who can't wait to read the new Elfquest. A very big nerd who loves her tv. For anyone else interested here is the schedule of events for the convention.
argh!! i am so jealous! please, please go and tell me all about it. my excitement for the firefly movie is insanely huge and since i can't go, you need to go for me.
...why can't i go? my only reason is sheer laziness.

Posted by: michele on July 18, 2004 12:13 PMThe only person I'd be interested in seeing is Neil Gaiman. That man is a genius.
Posted by: Clint on July 18, 2004 02:08 PMAfter just finishing "American Gods", I must concur with Clint about Neil Gaiman.
Have you watched the director's commentary on "Donnie Darko", Michele?

Posted by: michele on July 27, 2004 02:51 PMNo. I really watned too, but I was so tired from working 6 days in a row I couldn't bring myself to get up early and drive the 3-4 hours down to San Diego
It was in the papers and everything...sigh. i'll have to go next year
Posted by: nuala on July 27, 2004 04:47 PMi almost bought a ticket to fly down to SB and then drive down with you on sunday. i came soooo close before i stopped myself. sigh. maybe i can go next year. but how likely is it that joss whedon and the cast of serenity will be there again? not very likely at all.
Posted by: michele on July 27, 2004 09:57 PMMaybe not the cast of Serenity but I get the impression he goes to this thing every year. He is after all a big nerd at heart.
I totally would have gone if you had flown down just to drive with me....but good save your money for those various trips of yours.
