Elfquest! Elfquest! Elfquest! by Wendy and Richard Pini:

Elfquest has been a favorite of mine since Middle School. I have found memories of my friends and I passing the books gotten at the library between us. There was a list of us at least 15 people long waiting to read it. Eventually we all got to frustrated and just started buying them. I later introduced them to Michele and Kristen, but I don't think they enjoy them quite as much as I do, although michele did indulge with me for a while when we went and bought them every month. Oh and by the way they're comics. Now before you groan you have to know the pictures are gorgeous and the story, pretty damn fabulous. The story is however too long and involved to actually recap so please go to the website which will give you all you want and more about the series as well as all the pretty pictures. There has been rumors for years that they were going to make the first book installment into a animated picture with Wendy (who did all the original drawings, but does not seem to do them anymore much to my dismay) doing all the drawing. But alas it has never come to pass no matter how much they promise. I think they lie. They lie!

Another one of my favorites. It took me forever to read but it was worth every page. I love the King Arthur Legend and I've never found a version of it to top this one. After this all the female characters, Morgaine, Guinevere, and the Lady of the Lake seem one dimensional, and Merlin seems like a power hungry pig. If you like the Arthurian Legend I highly recommend it, but if you are a purist, you might be a little upset, but to you I put up my hand and say "whatever!" Strong women kick ass. Again another book that made me want to be a tough ass woman who needs no man!

They recently made a miniseries out of the out of the book but I was highly disappointed as they made it too short and cut out so many important parts and changed to many vital things. (Such as having Morgaine's aunt kill her sister, ridiculous I say) But the first half is almost worth it as it is very true to the book, the just screwed up the end. And Julianna Marguiles while good in the role was never how I imagined Morgaine and kinda ruined it for me.

A book that lovely Michele introduced to me. It's a retelling of the French Revolution (history again man, history) but with magic involved. All the nobility posess some kind of magic. It's a lovely little book and one that holds a special on my shelf of favorites, but I imagine that some people may not like it as it is slow in some parts but the characters are interesting and the new take or alternate take on history is facisinating for a history major...hee hee.
