Yo Ho Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life For Me

I love Johnny Depp. He's just always fantastic. No matter how dumb the role, how wacky or how weird he is always having a good time and therefore so is the audience. Pirates of the Caribbean was no exception. Now while we all know a movie based on a Disneyland ride (the next one they've made is Haunted Mansion with Eddie Murphy) can't be that great, going in with no expectations except to stare at Johnny and Orlando made the movie highly enjoyable.

Anyways I highly recommend it for a good time. There's a pretty girl (Keira Knightly) and cute boys, sword fights, singing, skeletons, boats and silly dialogue. The best part is the way Johnny Depp weaves instead of walks and how his eyes bug out while he's talking for no apparent reason except to give off a drunk vibe and the fake dreads, they're great, although I did want to rub beneath his eyes the whole movie to get rid of the smeared eyeliner, but besides that.....Go see it!

you know, as much as i love pirates, and as much as i love the ridiculousness of making a movie based on an amusement park ride, my main motivation to see this movie lies in the fact that johnny depp in eyeliner is hot. i should really get a copy of the movie poster that's just johnny with eyeliner'ed hotness, cutlass and firearm. screw the rest of them!

Oh he was definately hot, but with just a little too much "smugged" eyeliner under the eyes.

nuala, there were high school-aged pirates in p.hill park the other day. we thought maybe they were celebrating the opening of this movie. but proabably not.

Yes, I suppose JDepp is hot with the eyeliner. And i suppose keanu reeves is also a hottie. But I’ve seen both of them in interviews, and i mean not just Letterman, but PBS, and honestly, there's really not much going on upstairs. Are women different? I mean, i don't care how hot a woman is; If she's got no (or little) brain activity (or moreover acting ability) I'd never go see a movie just to catch a glimpse of her. Perhaps I'm the freak (wouldn't surprise me), but most of my male friends would be with me on this. This is not to say women are more superficial or more into "eye candy", it's just that J-Lo's butt couldn't entice me to see one of her movies in a million years.

I don't think Johnny Depp has nothing going on upstairs. Keanu Reeves maybe but I don't think he's hot.

Ooo Pirates in Pleasant Hill. Why am I not suprised?

Posted by: nuala on July 12, 2003 10:52 PM

mind you, i won't speak for keanu reeves on this one. but johnny depp i wouldn't dismiss as empty-headed, no matter how unflattering an interview you saw, because the man can ACT. really, i'm so impressed with his acting in this particular movie that my new motto for life will be, "if you need someone to play a weird drunken lunatic, call johnny depp."

being a feast for the eyes is merely an added bonus, and quite a good one at that.

i do have to wonder, though, how he got to be a pirate captain, lose his ship and spend unspecified quantities of years roaming around being generally rascally... all seemingly before the age of 30. it's just as well, i suppose. geoffrey rush does a much better ARRRRRR anyway.

Johnny Depp is hotttttttt. So is Orlando Bloom but in the movie Johnny is hotter. Reallllly hotttt okay thats all i have to say.

Just so we can be clear on this, Johnny Depp is 40 years old. Same age as Helen Hunt, Quentin Tarantino, Charles Barkley, Tori Amos, and TV's Uncle Jesse. Not that he isn't still gorgeous, but he's no longer young.

well, that's fine. as long as he doesn't reach retirement age before his career puts our six children through college, he can be any damn age he wants.

he's in a sequel to desperado coming out in september too! i am so excited!

Posted by: michele on July 26, 2003 07:06 PM

desperado, eh? this sounds promising. but (having not seen desperado, and going only by the title) i have to ask if there will be western accents. if there will, i'm not sure i can approve of that.

Posted by: dianna on July 26, 2003 07:38 PM

......it's set in mexico. so no. although it does have antonio banderas and selma hayek, so if you have a problem with either of them?

Posted by: michele on July 26, 2003 09:36 PM

not a problem, as such, no. unless you mean my crippling lack of enough of them in my life, which is a problem.

and mexican accents i most certainly approve of.

I know I saw the preview for Desparado. I am intrigued.

Well, hello there. I believe that Johnny Depp is old and skanky, and I am so young and chock full o' hotness.

Posted by: Orlando Bloom on December 23, 2003 11:05 AM

Like Chock Full O' Nuts, the self-appointed Heavenly Coffee?

Posted by: dianna on December 23, 2003 02:58 PM

I must admit...I do not think Orlando Bloom is hot. I personally think he is one of the uglier actors out there. I'm not saying he's drop dead ugly...He is okay to look at but Mr. Depp is 100 times better to look at. I did however think Orlando was gorgeous in "Lord of the Rings."

That is just my opinion. All of you Orlando fans, do not try and persuade me or even think about e-mailing me to yell at me. It's just a below average person's opinion-NOT the end of the world.

Has anyone anything about the new PotC Movie. I know it's supposed to be out in 2006ish, and that Johnny Depp is playing Jack, again. It's supposed to continue the lives of Will, Jack, and Elizabeth. I was just wondering if anyone heard anything about if they were recruiting Keira and Orlando to continue their parts in the movie. I hope so. I hate when they come out with a sequel to a movie, and the original actors don't even play in it...

Anyways, e-mail me with any info, please. And you guys should check out my story on Adultfanfiction.net: "A Pirate's Daughter." It's under the same name as I am here. It's good, I swear.
