So I was at the library yesterday and the book I wanted wasn't there so I start looking around seeing what's what. When I think I've grabbed enough books, I wander into the Young Adult section and what do I find? A new book by Tamora Pierce! That's right! And then when I look it up in the database what do I find? I whole shelf full of Tamora Pierce. What's funny as that the majority of her books are in the Children's section of the library, so here was me in the Children's section of the library last night looking gleeful at a whole self full of Tamora Pierce books. I think mothers were shaking their heads as they passed. Can I also mention that the Alanna series is on audio cassette. I was so facinated by this discovery. Now for those of you who are NOT Michele and Kristen I will explain.
Tamora Pierce was my FAVORITE author when I was younger. I started to read her books when I was like 10, thanks to Daphne, who lent me Alanna: The First Adventure. Thank you Daphne! Anyways it was basically like Harry Potter to me when I was younger. Loved it. And I've read that series at least 4 times. I even went so far as to write Tamora Pierce twice! And she wrote me back thank you very much. I wish I knew where the letters were, I would scan them and post it but unfortunately they're lost in some box somewhere from the million times I've moved. sigh.
Anyways, Tamora Pierce seems to have written two new series while I wasn't looking. Shame on me! So the one I'm reading now is called First Test. And I basically almost finished it last night. I was that entralled. I go to the library tonight to get the next one in this series.
The other new series is called The Circle Opens and the first books is called Magic Steps which I believe, Michele and Kristen, starts after the Circle of Magic Quartet.

The Protector of the Small Quartet (which I'm reading now)

the kel ones are good, even though it's like she's trying to relive alanna all over again. i own some of them though. not that you care since you can just go to the library. the circle ones kind of suck. and i was so disgusted with them that i have not even bothered with the steps ones. though i think i own the circle opens first 4.

yeah, after alanna nothing was as good i felt. i also quit after the kel ones. b/c what i really loved was alanna herself (and let's face it, george) so books without those two are just too sad for me.

Well I liked the immortal series with Diana and what's his name. I loved Cloud her horse. I'm sorry I still love these books, but I'm with you on the Circle ones. I'm gonna try giving them another chance however.
yeah the immortal ones are good. i loved whats his name the guy. hwee. ahhhh tamora and those wacky really large age discrepancy couples.
it's really just the circle ones i don't like. and mainly that is only because of how you have to read each one from a different view point i never really got to know one character enough to care about them.
Yea I didn't like that much either although I did like Briar. Well now there's a whole new series with those characters again. Maybe it will be better.

well i didn't need them to have sex right then. i just wanted it to be accepted thing that when they were old enough they would get married. i like closure to my young adult stories.

The Circle Opens is awesome, way better than the Immortals Quartet.
Tamora Pierce is one of my best authors up there with L.J.Smith & Marilyn Kaye.

that is l.j. smith, yes. i seriously think she died. what the hell ever happened to her? why do her books make so much money if you sell them online? why do i own all of them but am not desperate enough to make the moola off of them? it's because i love them. oh. oh oh.
I think the circle of magic books were great! Each one representing each of the main character's point of view and then each one playing the key role in his or her specefic book. i can't wait to read all of the other books but I have to locate them first. :)
