Apparently the line for Star Wars Episode III has begun outside the Chinese theatre in Hollywood, but come May 18th the movie won't actually be playing there. It will be a couple of blocks down at the Arclight theatre. Those in line are refusing to move the line location to outside the correct theatre in protest.
You have no idea how amusing I found this. The fact that they are sitting there eating pizza with their wireless internet and dvd players and "protesting" the fact that the movie is not playing at the Chinese theatre by refusing to move their line from in front of the Chinese theatre is funny. Especailly since the whole point is to get tickets for the movie and now they're not even in line for the tickets. I just...yea.
Even more amusing was a blog about a trip that Jessica Stover made to visit the nerds in line bearing pizza. You can read the full account at Jessica Stover's blog If you don't read the whole thing at least read her phone conversations with the people calling the pay phone that is located next to the line.My favorite answer was:
Thanks for calling 1-900-Star-Wars, this is Princess Leia. Is your light saber in need of service?
(stunned silence)

But the other ones are just as fantastic. You can check out bloggingla.com for more Star Wars line protesting as well as Eleventh Actually in Line which is a blog of someone actually in line.
Happy Reading
at first i was like, 'who the hell is jessica stover and why should i care?' but then i was mainly just exclaiming at the brilliance of it all.
Exactly!
yeah, that was fantastic. you should go bring them food too, and warm fuzzy pajamas with feet for the nighttimes.
And, because they're not willing to actually miss the movie, the people in line for the wrong theater still purchased tickets for the Arclight.
It's still so silly
i'm pretty pleased with the wil wheaton links. his opening disclaimer on his webpage is pretty hilarious.
This actually makes me want to see the movie less. That along with the army of cardboard cut-outs at Safeway, and the little flying Yoda on Yahoo! mail. Which is disappointing since Episode III objectively looks like a decent film, and will be dark and violent enough to be entertaining at least.
But more importantly, vicious Wil Wheaton lampoonery.
I actually found all this stuff out about Star Wars by reading Wil Wheaton's website. I actually enjoy his site. That and I loved him on Star Trek. However that link holohan posted is fantastic.
Word.
Thanks for the linkage. :-)
Cheers!
